Believe or not, I did not originally plan to write this blog about something I never did before in the show's 20 year history. This is the annual Mermaid Parade that takes place in Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York. Now I have to be honest with you, I had no intentions of covering the mermaid parade, though I have done shows at Coney Island in the past, but never to the extent of the Mermaid Parade. However, my very good colleague Ayness convinced me to come and have the chance of Interviewing some of the mermaids that were in attendance for this festivity. At this point we wound up getting a camera on short notice and we were able to get some interesting females in Coney Island for this event.
Some of the girls that we interviewed were quite interesting including one particular woman, who was explaining that she was working on her costume all night very high at the same time and really showed off a very impressive outfit. Some of the women there chose to be topless, which is legal for women to walk around topless in New York City without a threat of litigation.
Just from my observation alone, I seem to realize this event will happen every year and we will possibly cover again, since I do admit I did had a good time. There were a few mishaps along the way, but nonetheless you got me to meet very interesting people that like to dress up as mermaids or some cases pirates with some guys.
